Camping

I have been so busy ever since our last two camping trips because of soccer. I am sorry for such a late post. The first camping trip we took this year was our  fourth annual trip with the Gary & Sue Cass, our family friends. We always have so much fun.

Dad took first with the most fish, Gabriel took second with the biggest fish and Gary with the most improved award. Jacob was the timekeeper and judge. 

Then for the rest of the trip we ate and sat around. We are really lazy when we go camping. 

Lake Memphremagog

 Our second camping trip was just a family event. We camped right on Lake Memphremagog in Newport, Vermont. Just like all of our other camping trips there was plenty of food, fishing, card playing, walks and lazy time.

4-H Camp Overlook

       For ten years now Mom has worked at 4-H camp Overlook in Mountain View, New York. For the first eight she was Assistant Director and now for the past two years she has been the Director.  Mom spends seven weeks out of her summer at camp. We love camp so much! We call it our second home. 

       This year we spent the most time as a family at camp. We spent four weeks with Mom at camp.  I was a camper for one week and then just a staff child for the rest. Pip also did what I did. Jacob this year was able to be a counselor, he worked for three weeks then came back to Vermont to work as a lifeguard at our town pool.

Third week and sixth week we had a presentation from some of the Mohawk Indians from Akwesasne, New York. We loved it. We learned a lot about their history and then were were able to participate in some of their traditional dances.

Baseball

  This year Gabriel was picked to be on the All-Star Baseball team for Central Vermont. His team played five games. They made it to the State Championship in Newport, Vermont, but lost in their last two games.

Jacob goes to Prom!

Jacob was invited to go to prom with a girl named Timnah from Randolph. The prom was June 1, 2013. They went out to eat and then to our house for pictures. Here are some pictures I took. 

Trip to Boston for Dad's Surgery

It has been forever since I have posted on the blog. You probably think our lives are so boring.
Anyway, we went to Boston for Dad's Cervical Fusion at Mass General Hospital. He had his surgery on Wednesday, May 29, 2013.

Here is Dad after surgery. His doctor said he came out swinging and kicking. The nurses had to hold him down.

 He was supposed to be on a liquid diet but a few hours after his surgery he was eating toast, peanut butter crackers, and jello.
The second day while Dad was sleeping we went for a walk around Boston. Jacob got us lost; we walked around Boston for the whole morning and part of the afternoon. We rode the T to get back to the part of the city we needed to be in.
We went to the Holocaust Memorial and then back to Mass General to see Dad.

One Act Play Competition

Jacob and I (Madie) are members of the Drama Club at Whitcomb High school here in Bethel. This year we practiced and performed The Miser (L' Avare) by MoliEre. Jacob played Valere and I played Mistress Jackie who was originally supposed to be a male part but because we had to many girls and not enough boys try out I was cast as a male part but we turned it in to a female part.
We had one performance for the town and then we went to the One Act Play Competition in Thetford, Vermont on March 23, 2013.
We were great!  It was everyone's opinion (cast and audience included) that we were the best play at our regional.  We would have gone to states had we not gone over the one hour time limit and been disqualified.  Disappointment because of our disqualification was inevitable, but the fact that many people congratulated us on an outstanding performance and that the directors thought we were amazing all helped to ease the pain.  Jacob and I will be participating in Drama again next year so there will be more Feeney awesomeness and Whitcomb Drama Club performances to come!
